Conference Dinner
Join us for a buffet dinner at The Architect in Bath City Centre on Thursday 10 September at 18:00. The evening dinner is a great place to relax, network, and continue conversations from the day in a welcome and informal setting. Soft drinks are included, with a bar available for additional purchases. Tickets are £40 and must be booked in advance.
Drinks Reception
A drinks reception will be held on Wednesday 9 September at 18:00 in the Pavilion, School of Management. Delegates are invited to join us for an informal evening of conversation and connection with fellow attendees, presenters, and exhibitors. Complimentary alcoholic and soft drinks will be provided, offering a relaxed setting to meet colleagues on the first evening of the conference. Attendance is open to all delegates and no registration is required.
Bath Walking Tour: How Bath Has Adapted Through Upheaval
Discover the history of Bath through the lens of adaptation and change on this guided walking tour, specially designed to complement the conference theme. Beginning at 19:00 on Wednesday 9 September from Abbey Churchyard, the tour will explore how Bath and its communities have responded to social, environmental, and economic upheaval over the past 2000 years, from its Roman origins to its transition from a wool and cloth industry centre to a world-renowned tourism destination. Along the route, you will see many of Bath’s iconic landmarks, including Bath Abbey, the Roman Baths, Theatre Royal, The Circus, Royal Crescent, Assembly Rooms, and Pulteney Bridge.
The tour lasts up to two hours and tickets are £11.25 per person. Spaces are very limited and advanced booking is required.
Please note that delegates joining the walking tour are likely to miss the majority of the drinks reception taking place at 18:00 on the same evening.
WES is offering 60 funded places for full conference registration. These places are available for postgraduates and early career researchers and senior academics facing financial hardship.
A funded place includes:
- Registration to all 3 days of the conference (9-11 September 2026)
- Access to all sessions on the conference programme
- Daytime catering at the venue (lunch and refreshments)
It does not include:
- Conference dinner or any other evening meals
- Travel costs
- Accommodation
- Visa application fees or travel documents (delegates are responsible for arranging these themselves)
- Visa sponsorship (the BSA is not able to act as a sponsor for immigration purposes)
In addition, WES is also offering 2-nights’ accommodation for 20 delegates. These places are available for postgraduates and early career researchers and senior academics facing financial hardship. Successful applicants must register for the full conference in order to receive the funded accommodation.
These places will cover:
- Accommodation on 9 and 10 September at on-site student accommodation at University of Bath (single occupancy only)
- Breakfast on 10 and 11 September
Applicants can apply for both a funded place and accommodation.
Eligibility Criteria
- You must be a current paid-up BSA Member at the time of application and during the conference dates.
- You must not have access to funding for conference attendance.
- Priority will be given to those who have not had funding to attend a WES Conference or other BSA conferences in the past, and have had an abstract accepted for presentation at the WES Conference 2026.
Funding will only be granted to the person named on the application and is not transferable.
