PGR Writing Workshop
A BSA Postgraduate Regional Event
2 April 2025 (10:30-16:30 BST)
Social Sciences Building, Level 12, Room 12.21/25, University of Leeds, UK
About the Event
Want to write for your work to be read? This workshop will be an informal gathering of folk interested in thinking and talking about their writing and the things they read. We will look at writing as communication and craft. How might we make an argument more compelling on the page or screen?
While focusing on academic writing, this workshop considers various types of writing for different purposes and audiences. The workshop structure will follow sections concerned with the philosophy of writing, the place of creativity in academic writing, and the craft of forming a strong argument and improving readability.
What to bring to the workshop:
- A writing instrument.
- A short piece of your own writing.
- A short piece of writing by someone else that you enjoyed or struggled with.
- Imagination.
- Critical sensibility.
