The following changes to the membership of the Board of Trustees come into effect from 22 June.

The Chair of the Board will be Professor John Bone who will be joined by Professor Louise Ryan as Vice Chair.

John and Louise will work alongside other trustees as follows: Aminu Musa Audu, Stevi Jackson, Jieyu Liu, Linda McKie, Janice McLaughlin, Nasar Meer, Henrietta O’Connor, Mike Savage, Richard Waller, Aaron Winter and Chris Yuill.

The staff and trustees would like to extend their thanks to outgoing Chair, Professor John Horne, for his dedication and support during his term and for overseeing many key recent strategic priorities, notably the establishment of an Equality and Diversity Working Group and the move of the office to a permanent home in the North East of England.

The Board works to further the objects of the BSA which are the advancement of public education by the promotion and diffusion of the knowledge of sociology by lectures, publications, the promotion and publication or research and encouragement of contact between workers in all relevant fields of enquiry.
