Introduction to BSA Publications
We are proud to publish and promote sociological research.
The BSA has published leading-edge academic books and journals, as well as magazines and newsletters for over 50 years. We continue to meet the charity's aim of promoting sociology with a very active publishing programme.
We have a long history of publishing edited collections and conference volumes with a variety of publishers and we currently have book series with Routledge (Sociological Futures) and Bristol University Press (21st Century Standpoints). We are also pleased to publish a number of other ad hoc book projects like Sociologists' Tales.
Our journals are internationally recognised as being amongst the finest in the discipline and have helped shape it through quality articles from 1967. We have two wholly owned journals, Sociology and Work, Employment and Society, as well as affiliations to Cultural Sociology and Sociological Research Online. We are particularly proud of the high standard of academic papers we continue to receive for publication within our journals and our thanks go to our many contributors.
As well as our journals we publish Network – the Members' magazine – and also The Sociology Teacher, a full-colour resource for those teaching sociology at pre-tertiary level.
We have also published a number of reports and guides through our history, such as our Authorship Guide and the BSA/C-SAP Quantitative Methods Report.
The BSA's publishing activities are undertaken by BSA Publications Ltd – the trading arm of the Association that is overseen by Trustees of the Association. The Directors of BSA Publications Ltd are the Chair, Vice Chair, Treasurer, Publications Directors and Chief Executive of the Association.
All publishing activities are supported by the Publications Manager and the Publications Co-ordinator.
As with most activities within the BSA, all publications are due in large part to the efforts of our members who act as Editors, authors and peer reviewers. We are pleased to facilitate the publication and promotion of the excellent work of our members and sociologists around the world. If you are interested in getting involved in any BSA Publication, check out the calls to action on each publication page or email the BSA office.
