Join the BSA Sociology of Education Study Group convenors for this free online event designed to support sociology of education PhD students and early career researchers as they prepare high quality sociology of education academic articles for submission.
Featured speakers:
- Rachel Brooks is Professor of Higher Education at the University of Oxford, editor-in-chief of the British Journal of Sociology of Education, and co-editor of the ‘Research into Higher Education’ book series (published by Routledge). Rachel’s research focuses primarily on the sociology of higher education. Particular areas of expertise include international student mobility (and processes of internationalisation and Europeanisation in higher education more generally); student politics and protest; and ensuring equity in access to and outcomes within higher education.
- Dr Sazana Jayadeva is a Lecturer in Sociology at the University of Surrey. She is an Associate Editor of the journal Sociology and co-convenes the Society for Research into Higher Education's International Research and Researchers’ Network. She is also affiliated with the GIGA Institute of Asian Studies in Germany as an Associate Researcher. Her current research interests include online distance education and the virtual mobilities of international students, the migration infrastructures mediating international student mobility, and national higher education branding.
- Event chair: Dr Jessica Gagnon is a BSA Education Study Group co-convenor and a lecturer in Education at the University of Manchester. She is also Director of Methods@Manchester and on the editorial board for the journal Teaching in Higher Education. Jessica is a sociologist whose research focuses on inequalities in student and staff experiences in higher education. Her recent funded research primarily focuses on inequalities in STEM disciplines.
