The Sociology of Media is an established BSA study group that examines, broadly  “… the institutions, products, and audiences of broadcast, print and more recently online media" (Matthews 2017:205).  

It gained formal recognition in 1999 following a first meeting with 12 members in Nottingham and now includes around 70 members at various stages of their careers.

It hosts events with the aim to enable its members - whatever their age and stage - to discuss their work in both informal and encouraging surroundings.
