Nick took severance from the University of Sheffield in 2009, where he had been professor of sociology and a senior manager in the School of Health and Related Research. Since then he has worked as an independent scholar, with recent work on sexualities, creativity, emotions, technologies and health, and books on embodiment (Polity, 2010) and on new materialist social theory for Sage (2016). In addition he directs the Wisdom Centre, a business providing short courses to health care professionals and others. He has been co-convenor of SOA since 2013.
Marguerite holds a BA in Sociology and a MPH in Epidemiology and worked in various public health and policy roles in Ireland and Lesotho before coming to England for a research fellow position at London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine in 2014. She is currently employed by both the Mental Health Foundation as Policy Manager, and Public Health England as a Public Mental Health Manager on the national team. Her core interests are in health inequalities, intersectionality, prevention of NCDs and pathways to health.
