The visual, sensory and embodied: a research methods jam session
18 May 2020
UCL Institute of Education, 20 Bedford Way, London, WC1H 0AL
About the Event
This event is a platform for discovery and exploration for those interested in using creative and visual methodologies.
Just as musicians engage in "jams" to playfully synthesise, collaborate and create new sounds and pieces, delegates will explore methodological in-between spaces and share practices that will result in a definitive outcome.
Our philosophy is one of active engagement, playful exploration and mutual symbiosis driven by methodological or theoretical interests. The aim is to discuss and exchange ideas of how to explore and express the inexpressible.
Delegates will use creative materials to reflect on and record our experiences, to play, and to represent data generation. We will share, discuss and explore research methods and theories, searching for a multi-disciplinary framework for systematic analysis of data resonant with creative, visual and embodied collaborative or participatory research. Our aim is to innovate research approaches, move the methodological debate forward, and develop opportunities for further collaboration.
