Sociology and the New Materialisms

A BSA New Materialisms Study Group One-day Symposium

10 June 2019 (12:00-17:00)
BSA London Meeting Room, Imperial Wharf, Fulham, UK

About the Event

The establishment of the BSA New Materialisms Study Group in 2018 reflects the growing interest among Sociologists in this approach.  To celebrate the launch of the group, we now invite group members and others to present work relevant to New Materialist and Posthuman Social Science.

The aim of this one-day symposium is to enable members to share their work; to meet others using new materialist theories and concepts in their research; to explore possible collaborations with other group members; and air ideas for future development of the study group and work within the BSA.

We invite abstracts for:

  • 20 minute papers reporting research (200 words).
  • Short reports (10 minutes) of work in progress, methodological issues, ideas for research or critical reflections on the new materialisms and sociology (100 words).

Please submit abstracts by 19 April 2019 to Nick Fox
