52nd Medical Sociology Annual Conference
As you might have anticipated, we have made the decision to cancel the BSA’s Medical Sociology Annual Conference this year. Apologies to those who have already submitted abstracts.
Given the level of uncertainty regarding the coronavirus outbreak, and resultant public health guidance, we think it would be irresponsible, and insensitive of us to continue planning the conference as normal. Additionally, the capacity of the committee is changed, and likely the capacity of attendees, to complete the work necessary to organise or attend such a large event.
However, at a committee meeting earlier this week, we decided that we would still like to offer the medical sociological community something, to keep in touch, share ideas and keep our networks going. We hope to be able to contact you again later in the Spring, when we will have a clearer idea of what we can and cannot offer, having had time to look at our constitution, competing responsibilities and options.
In the interim we are pleased to say that the Phil Strong Prize will still be awarded to a PGR student, and dependent on access to books, so will the FSHI book prize. Keep in touch, and take care.
Please send all enquiries to Elaine Forester.
